  • This test is intended to be used as an aid to the diagnosis of bacterial vaginosis (BV) in women with a clinical presentation consistent with this disorder. The assay utilizes real time transcription-mediated amplification (TMA) for detection and quantitation of bacteria associated with BV, including Lactobacillus (L. gasseri, L. crispatus, and L. jensenii), Gardnerella vaginalis and Atopobium vaginae.

    Rejection Criteria

    Samples collected incorrectly (ie. Swabs other than vaginal, transport media other than the acceptable media listed above, cotton swab, specimens stored at wrong temperature, etc.); samples transported incorrectly; unlabeled or improperly labelled specimens; quantity of transport media not sufficient for testing.
